FEES

According to the German law everyone residing in Germany must have a health insurance.

Please make your insurance arrangements before coming to Germany.

You can choose any insurance company you like.

International students can take advantage of combined health insurance and personal liability insurance at good rates from insurance companies, e.g. MAWISTA SCIENCE insurance policy covers you worldwide and costs approximately EUR 45 per month. This insurance is temporary and covers personal liability insurance and basic health care services, e.g. in case of acutely occurring illnesses.

This is a short summary of the benefits:

• Out-patient treatment by a doctor
• 100% cover for prescription drugs and simple bandages
• Accident-related medical aids up to 250 EUR (not including glasses or lenses)
• In-patient treatment at a hospital (standard treatment and standard staff) without optional benefits
• Follow-up treatment as a necessary rehabilitation measure
• Costs for medically necessary transportation to the hospital
• Antenatal examinations, treatment and childbirth (8 month retention period)
• Pain-relieving dental treatment (up to 500 EUR – 100%, in excess of 500 EUR – 75%, max. 1.000 EUR per insurance year)

This insurance does not include:

• Illnesses and ailments already in existence or known about at the time the insurance is taken out
• Psychoanalytical and psychotherapeutic treatment
• Pregnancy, if the insured person was pregnant at the time of application
• Abortion of pregnancy.

The conditions for the included personal liability insurance are a flat rate for personal injury and damage to property of max. EUR 1.000.000.

It covers in addition an employer’s claim in the event of gross negligence of up to EUR 10.000. The excess of 10% must be covered personally up to a maximum of EUR 150.
